I bought this on Amazon for 4.99. The number of patterns that contained mistakes was mind boggling. If I was not looking at the patterns on Ravelry, I would have never known it. I would have been strugglingalong an pulling out my hair thinking I was doing things that were not coming out right. Given the the original retail was $17.95, I’ m disappointed in Csacade and feel bad for anyone who does use the internet because they would never know about the errata. There is nothing in the book to direct people where to check for them. At least 13 patterns contained errors. Frustrating.

Consider carefully before buying, especially if you are a new or impatient knitter. As an experienced knitter, I can say that, although the patterns are inviting, this is definitely not a book of "quick knits," nor would I recommend it for beginners. Most patterns require intermediate to advanced skills and an ability to read and "interpret" patterns that are not well written in some cases. Be sure to check the errata posted on the publisher's website, as there are many patterns with errors. If you are interested in recreating the garment using the same yarn as called for in the pattern, you may be disappointed, as some colors have been discontinued and/or require an extensive search to locate.Even with all these problems, there are some very lovely patterns and I will continue to use the book, being sure to consult the errata posts. Also, before beginning, consider doing a blog search for your prospective pattern . Some knitters have posted their experiences with a pattern, along with some very helpful tips, so that you can avoid the pitfalls they encountered.

I love this book--fabulous sweaters for babies. The staghorn pullover is next on my list for my grandson. I have already made two sweaters from the sequel to this book and they are great. But also English patterns so American knitters need to learn the assumptions that go into English patterns--eg. that a selvedge edge is built into the patterns. Also the English are still knitting on straight needles for reasons my local knitting store teachers don't understand so when adapting these patterns to circular needles pay attention to the fact that on circular needles you're always knitting on the Right side of the piece. Various other minor differences that you can figure out with the help of your own knitting guides

This book has several very cute patterns. I made a blanket, sheep and pirate hats and started on the #55 Preppy Cardigan. Ripped cardigan out 6 times before discussing the vague directions in the first paragraph on pg 164 w/publisher. After 3 e-mails I was able to understand the pattern. For any of you that try this pattern where it states "Cont as established, working M1 incs at beg and end of every 4th row......." it neglects to mention you are not to knit the (2) M1 increases stated in row 5 but rather ignore them and only add them at the beg & end of every 4th row you are repeating 2 (3, 5) times as well as knitting this row in a 6 row pattern (after the 4 row pattern) 2(2,1) times with the same substitution while following the directions for the kfb and cables and length measurements. I ended up typing out the entire directions as if knitting row by row to make it much easier. I will delete the single CC row of white across the chest and add the pirate skull & crossbones pattern from the Pirate Hat page. I used graph paper to mark out the pirate pattern to insure it will fit correctly across front/back of sweater. The pattern will need to be inverted as the cardigan is knitted in a top down fashion. I informed the publisher I would rather pay more for the book and have the instructions printed out row by row with the number of stitches for peace of mind. BTW I am an experienced knitter. :) FYI: If you have this book look online for corrections. Depending on your print date there are several you may have to change in your copy.

I agree with those who wrote that the errors are a big turnoff. Call me crazy but I expect that a published book of patterns should not have an entire page of corrections.Many Ravelry crafters warn of the pattern errors and the need to make adjustments even beyond the corrections provided by the publisher. I just wish that I had seen those reviews before I purchased the book.The patterns are cute but I am not interested in rewriting patterns. I gave it one star because the Amazon review site won't let you rate a product no stars.

I am really pleased with this purchase. For a great price you get 60 beautifully photographed and patterned baby projects that someone would actually want to give/receive. No freakish or outdated craft projects in this one. All are made in superwash worsted weight wool which is easy to find and quick to knit. I don't usually take the time to write a review, but this book deserved a mention.

I hesitated ordering this book at first because the few patterns that they show were debatable to me however I took a chance and almost all the patterns look beautiful.Two things to note, alot of comments are made about a misleading title. I see alot of books that say "quick knitting"and I dont know about others but nothing for me with knitting is "quick" and I am an avid knitter for sixteen years now so I did not order this book thinking anything about it was going to be very fast per say.secondly the only slight complaint or thing to know is while these patterns are beautiful looking, I noticed alot of them do not offer different sizes which is a bummer. Some of the random patterns have two sizes but I am used to books that offer each pattern in the book in at least four different sizes. now some knitters could probably adjust the size on their own but I rarily have luck with trying to experiment with such things.would I buy it again? yes.

My great-grandson is getting lots of treats from this book.Darling Patterns!!!
