I love the "Dummies" books. They are usually well written with tons of information packed in them. So I was concerned when this one wasn't rated highly in the ratings. I think the reason why is that it is brand new. The copyright date is 2019. This one is just as well written and filled with information as the other books in the series. I've only had my Echo device for a week, and figured out some of what is in the book, but was pleasantly surprised to learn other, totally new stuff. This would be a great idea to buy along with a new Alexa device. It would also be great for someone who is thinking about purchasing and doesn't know which device would be best, as the author devotes an entire chapter on the comparison of different devices. I've read other books on working with Alexa, and this is the best so far, IMHO!

Very interesting book. It is amazing all the things that can be done with Alexa. We still have many things to learn, but it is fun to try as many as possible.

One of the few, if not the only, currently available mostly complete user tomes for Alexa.The already huge sales of these products would be even higher if Amazon provided complete user instructions with their Alexa family.

Have not read through all of it but there is good information using Alexa.

I always enjoy Dummy books. They are informative and some of them are even entertaining and funny. You can start read it at any chapter and it won't matter. The content is so new that it even includes that Auto Echo that is not even out yet. The information here doesn't delve deep into technical material that would be difficult to understand. We just started knowing Alexa and this book is a great introduction for buidling us a smarter home. What we currently know is just a tip of the iceberg from all the things I can learn from reading this book.

This book is so awesome! I have three Echo Dots that I got during a promotion, and have never really figured out what to do with them other than play music.Today, using the book, I figured out how to: 1) use Echo to make announcements, so now instead of shouting “IT’S DINNERTIME!!!!!!!” down the stairs and being heard about a quarter of the time, I can now politely and effectively summon my family with a chime and announcement; 2) call my husband without having to hunt all over for my phone since I never know where it is, and 3) create a shopping list for the grocery store since I never remember my notebook where I write things down (they also appear on the app so you can look at it while you shop!). I also learned about SmartPlugs, which I don’t have but I now want. That was all from about 20 pages, so I’m going to spend the evening learning some other cool stuff while I'm on a roll!The nice thing is that you can either just start at the beginning or look up the specific things you want to do. Buy it! I promise it will help.
